What is Multi Class Swimming?
Multi Class (MC) swimming is a form of competition designed specifically for swimmers with disability. MC events are normal swimming events with some minor modifications to the rules and regulations.

Swimmers with disabilities are assigned a Classification, dependent upon their disability; whereas swimmers without disabilities, do not.

In the past, swimmers with disabilities have been included in Masters events on the same basis as non-disabled swimmers, however with little chance of competing effectively against non-disabled swimmers.
In order to compete in MC events swimmers must have an eligible classification.

MC events see swimmers with a range of disabilities, from multiple classifications competing in the same races as non-MC swimmers, with all heats based upon the swimmers nominated time when entering.

MC swimmers race against the world record time in that event for their classification.

For MC swimmers the winner is the swimmer who posts a time closest to the world record for their classification.

For non-disabled swimmers, it will be business as usual.

Swimmers registering with a disability will be required to provide their eligible classification.

\Masters Swimming (Medical Disabilities) MD’s are not considered a disability in this context.
