500 yard, 1 Mile and 2 Mile Open Water Events for Youth Members of USA Swimming

DAM's Annual Lake Berryessa Swim is one of the longest running open water swim events in America. Started in 1981 as a friendly lake swim, this event now attracts over 300 swimmers each year to the shores of Lake Berryessa.

Sanction: Sanctioned by USA Swimming and by Pacific Masters Swimming for US Masters Swimming.

Location: Steele Canyon Campground, Steele Canyon Road, Lake Berryessa, Napa, CA

Course: 500 yard, 1-mile, and 2-mile single loop

Safety Plan: Mandatory safety briefings will be held at 8:30 a.m. and at 10:15 a.m. at the information kiosk; the Event Safety Plan will be posted at the registration desk on race day and is available prior to race day by request from berryessa@damfast.org.

Entries: Online entry on Club Assistant is preferred.  For a paper entry form, email berryessa@damfast.org. ENTRY FEE WILL INCREASE BY $5 ON RACE DAY!

Eligibility: This event is open to USA Swimming registered swimmers or members of an equivalent FINA organization (for foreign swimmers). To register for the event, you must provide proof of current membership.

Events and pricing:
$25      500 yard swim – 10 & Under only
$30      2-mile swim – 13-14, 15-18
$30      1-mile swim – 11-12, 13-14, 15-18
$50      Combined 1- and 2-mile swims – 15-18 only

Additional processing fees (approximately 2% of total charges) will be applied to online entries.
Prices include sales tax for merchandise and food.
All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Online entry is paid by credit card to "ClubAssistant.com Events"

Entry deadline: Online registration closes Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11:59 PM (Eastern time);  Paper entries must be received by Thursday, May 28, 2015.

Scoring Divisions: Boys and girls in the following age groups: 10 & under (500 yd only), 11-12 (1-mile only), 13-14, 15-18

Awards: Awards will be given to the top six swimmers in each scoring division, and to all finishers in the 500 yard swim. The top overall male and female finishers in the combined will receive an additional award.

Event description
Rules: This event will be governed by 2015 USMS and USA Swimming Rules for Open Water Swimming.
Start: Deep water, wave starts (see below)
Finish: Onshore
Course: 500 yd, 1 mile, and 2 mile single loops, courses close 60 minutes after the first finisher for each wave; expected water temperature is 70-75 degrees F, air temperature averages 75-80 degrees F.
Check-in: opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 8:50 a.m. for 2-mile event and at 10:30 a.m. for 1-mile event
Starts: first 2-mile wave starts at 9:00 a.m., first 1-mile wave starts at 10:45 a.m.
Snacks, water, and sports drink will be provided.
Commemorative t-shirts and mugs may be purchased during event registration.
BBQ lunch may be purchased during event registration.
Limited quantities of merchandise and meal may be available for purchase at the event.

Lodging: Primitive (no water or electricity) campsites are available at Steele Canyon, contact Trish Price for reservations. Full hookup camping sites are available at Pleasure Cove Marina (http://goberryessa.com, click on “Forever Resorts Marinas”). Nearest hotels are in Napa, Vacaville, or Fairfield.

• 11:05 a.m. for USMS, Category 1, 1-mile
• 11:30 a.m. for USMS, Category 2, 1-mile
