DAM's Annual Lake Berryessa Swim is one of the longest running open water swim events in America. Begun in 1981 as a friendly lake swim, this event now attracts over 500 swimmers each year to the shores of Lake Berryessa.  
Sanction: This event is sanctioned by Pacific Masters Swimming for USMS, Inc., Sanction #384-W001.

Course: 1-mile and 2-mile single loop

Safety Plan: available by request to berryessa@damfast.org. The complete safety plan will be posted at the event information kiosk. Mandatory safety briefings will be held at 8:30 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m. at the information kiosk on race day.
Entries: Paper entry form is available at www.damfast.org or by request to berryessa@damfast.org. Online entry is at www.clubassistant.com.
Eligibility: This event is open to U.S. Masters (USMS) registered swimmers or members of an equivalent FINA organization (for foreign swimmers). To register for the event, you must provide proof of current membership or purchase a One Event registration (OEVT). You may register for USMS during your event entry process. OEVT is not available for the USMS 1 Mile OW National Championship.
OEVT Instructions: If you do not provide USMS registration information, you will be charged the OEVT fee. No additional registration steps are required. For paper entry, you must complete the OEVT registration at the lake.

$40  2-mile Category 1  (Rule, Section 303.7)
$63  Combined 1- and 2-mile Category 1  (Rule, Section 303.7)
$40  1-mile Category 2 (Rule, Section 303.7)
$40  2-mile Category 2 (Rule, Section 303.7)
$60  Combined 1- and 2-mile Category 2 (Rule, Section 303.7)
$5    USMS Insurance surcharge (once per swimmer)
$25 OEVT (if applicable)
Additional processing fees (approximately 2% of total charges) will be applied to online entries.
Prices apply only if entry is completed online by 11:59 pm on Thursday, June 5, 2014, OR if paper registration form is postmarked by Thursday, May 22, 2014. Race day entries will be higher. 
Prices include sales tax for merchandise and food.
All entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Online entry is paid by credit card to "ClubAssistant.com Events."

Scoring Divisions: divided by gender in five-year increments according to USMS Rules (18-24, 25-29, 30-34, etc.).

Awards: Open Water National Championship (OWNC) medals will be awarded to the top 6 finishers in each scoring division in the 1 mile OWNC. OWNC patches and medals will be awarded to winners in each scoring division. Separate awards to top 3 finishers in each scoring division for the 2-mile Category 1 swim and to the top overall male and female finishers in each event (1- and 2-mile Category 1 and Category 2).

Entry deadline: Online registration closes Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11:59 PM (Eastern time); paper entries must be postmarked by Thursday, May 22, 2014.

Event description
Rules: This event will be governed by 2014 USMS Rules for Open Water Swimming.

Start: Shallow water, wave starts (by age and gender)

Finish: Ramp onshore

Course: 1-mile and 2-mile single loops, course closes 60 minutes after the first finisher for each wave; expected water temperature is 65-70 degrees F, air temperature averages 75-80 degrees F.

Check-in: opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 9:30 a.m. for 2-mile event and at 11:25 a.m. for 1-mile event

Starts: shallow water, first 2-mile wave starts at 9:45 a.m.; first 1-mile wave starts at 11:40 a.m.

Snacks, water, and sports drink will be provided.
Commemorative t-shirts or mugs, or BBQ lunch may be purchased during event registration.

Lodging: Primitive (no water or electricity) campsites are available at Steele Canyon, contact Trish Price for reservations. Full hookup camping sites are available at Pleasure Cove Marina (http://goberryessa.com, click on “Forever Resorts Marinas”). Nearest hotels are in Napa, Vacaville, or Fairfield.

DAM is a 501(c)(3) organization that supports local swimming related organizations and swimmers with donations and scholarships. All proceeds support the DAM mission.
